Abstract
The United States Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps was established at Marquette University in 1941. It has thrived since its inception through the dedication and hard work of many Navy and Marine Corps officers who have been privileged to serve as Naval Science Instructors. For the majority of these instructors it was their first formal teaching experience, and they have performed remarkably well. As an NROTC Instructor it is important to recognize the varied roles or the assignment, to realize the limitations imposed by these roles, and the necessity to strengthen one's ability to help the aspiring officer by this recognition.
