Abstract
In this paper I am seeking to understand the theological significance of the faith experience of a community as revealed in their liturgical experience. I will begin with a case history, a situation that developed over a dispute in liturgical practice of a suburban parish. In reflecting theologically on the major issues of the case, I hope not only to arrive at a better understanding of this particular event, but also to suggest some criteria for judging the authenticity of liturgical celebrations.
