Abstract
One of the main purposes of our schools is to develop to the greatest extent possible the intellectual potential of every pupil (Fine, 1967): Yet, one of the most crucial problems in education centers around students' achievement. For many years educators and psychologists have been concerned with the absence of achievement among individuals who appear to have the potential for academic achievement. Despite all of our "innovative", modern teaching techniques, there is a significant population of students in our schools not reaching their potential (Kornrich, 1965). It is estimated that every second child in the American classroom is not achieving according to his/her ability (Chandler, 1971).
