Abstract
Groundwater monitoring was in the past usually a concern to only potential users of groundwater. However, very recently environmentalists and other concerned people have become active in the field due to the realization that groundwater resources in the United States have become polluted in many specific cases and are in danger of generally becoming polluted in almost all cases. Combined with the great dependency the United States has on groundwater for public and private consumption, the recent amount of effort and research on groundwater monitoring is not surprising.
