Abstract

It is the purpose of this paper to investigate Paul's directive in Ephesians that husbands love their wives, and wives respect and obey their husbands. It is my concern to examine this teaching of Paul's in the light of the cultural and religious milieu of his day, and to determine what theological insights if any it adds into the role and position of woman. Is Paul writing wholly as a mid-first-century man or is he expanding the dimensions of woman's relationship to man through his Christian experience?
