Abstract

This study was begun as an attempt to replace some personal hazy notions concerning the role of miracles in Christianity. To investigate the notion of miracle as such (within the limited scope of a paper) is a futile task: the phenomena is reported in all ages of man, from the beginning of records even to the present day. And so the study was situated in the Gospel of Matthew. This situation presupposes an understanding of how, for whom, when, and why the Gospel was composed. Again, the task was too large to warrant any more than, general indications in a paper such as this. So we proposed to look at miracles under that aspect of Matthew's Gospel which presents Jesus, his person and mission, in terms of the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.
