Abstract

An integral part of this essay was its practical application through a study skills program which included teachers and students. The main purpose of the research was to evaluate the study skills curriculum that was developed and implemented this past year. While doing this, the researcher was able to read other research that not only supported the program but also showed areas where the program needed to be improved. This research attempted to look at the correlation between teacher modeling of study skills strategies and students learning of these strategies. Students' use of strategies seems to be positively correlated with academic success. Student learning and application of these strategies also appears to be correlated with teacher modeling. Therefore, teachers need to learn through inservice, improve through support and model in the classroom.
