Abstract
The qualitative analysis of oral reading behavior has been studied in respect to stage of development, instructional method, and reader experience, as well as reader ability. It seems possible that the type of instructions given prior to reading may also be a factor influencing the quality of oral reading and, also, comprehension. This study examines the affect that instructions prior to oral reading have on accuracy and comprehension.
