Abstract

In our modern twentieth century culture, learning to read is of paramount importance to every person for successful, happy living. To confirm this concept, Artley enlighteningly states , 11The person who cannot read is frustrated at almost all levels. 1•11 Reading is the most essential tool for obtaining an education; therefore, teachers of reading today want children to succeed from their initial learning efforts . Especially is there concern with the best approaches to preparing children for beginning reading. Realizing that reading rests on specific learned patterns of behavior and not merely that a child has turned six or is entering first grade.
