Abstract
Today people are concerned about the relevancy of God, the honesty of religion and the direction of activity. Focus on God as prime originator, masterful father, supreme lawgiver gives way to God as lover, personal presence, mystery, creative evolutionary. He will not force himself upon us but awaits our free encounter. History illustrates that people come to recognize Him as guide, person, lover, creator, chastiser, deliverer and eschaton. It is we who must listen and react as he continues to create this recognition within us. Hence, I affirm that it is in the faith consciousness of the people, we live this presence of God. To this last statement, I direct this paper. Consciousness and faith in man; God's presence through revelation, history and-grace; and the decisive actions realizing these now in the Church and sacraments are subjects developed in this essay. Sources are restricted to the writings of Karl Rahner which have been published in English.
