Abstract

Prediction tables based on various criteria are nothing novel at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the first l published study being that of Dearborn in 1909. Various criteria, at first singly and later in combinations were employed. Dearborn's original study used high school rank as a predictor. Froelich began using intelligence tests - or scholastic aptitude tests, as they are more appropriately called - in 1920. The first test used was the Thorndike. In 1928, the American Council on Education Psychological Examination was first used. A subsequent development was the Wisconsin Cooperative Testing Program which introduced the Ohio State Psychological Test. Byrnes published results which compared the predictive efficiency of both the Ohio and the A.C.E. tests. She found that with first year grades the Ohio Test correlated .43 while the A.C.E. test Correlated .50.
