Abstract

The Milwaukee Public School System has been a quiet leader in all aspects of education for about one hundred years. Is there any one concern that the administration has consistently grappled with to maintain this leadership? It appears that the question of attendance, while not an end in itself, is a necessary condition for the realization of educational opportunities provided through the schools. And the concern that the administration has shown in maintaining and increasing attendance is the purpose of this study.
