Abstract

Morality refers to the personal values and standards of social action which an individual has internalized. The process of internalization of values and standards is called moral development. Why and how moral development occurs is unknown although a number of theories exist which attempt to answer this question. Kohlberg's theory of moral development is one such theory which has recently begun to achieve increased recognition.
