Abstract
The idea of servant leadership has interested and challenged me in different ways throughout my life: from exposure to various teachers, mentors, and colleagues who exhibit "servanthood" in their personal and professional lives to the ultimate example of servant leadership as shown in the life of Jesus Christ. The significance of servant leadership became more apparent to me as I saw the effects of various types of leadership in employment and in higher education. Realizing the profound effect a servant leader can have on others, I found myself called to spread the message of servant leadership and to encourage those who have the ability to lead to become better servants.
