Abstract
The Catholic elementary schools are engaged in a nation wide self-evaluation program. Curriculum--a major area of the study--is being scrutinized as to its effectiveness in meeting the needs of the students and the community which the school serves. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of a curriculum implemented through programmed learning. The specific area under consideration is a skill-type learning, namely, reading vocabulary. This study will attempt to evaluate the results of programmed learning under home self-study as compared with the use of programmed learning under supervised self instruction in the classroom.
