Abstract

Human beings are engaged in the process of "becoming" from birth until death1• Each human being is unique in that he is endowed with different physical and intellectual characteristics , varied cultural and familial backgrounds , and a personal view of himself- -that he is , what he aspires to become. However, apart from these individual differences there lies similarity. Human beings are alike in that to maintain this process of "becoming", certain basic needs such as food , clothing, and shelter must be met. Second , each human being must pass through various developmental stages at strategic periods in his life.
