Abstract
Linear programming is concerned with problems of maximization and minimization or to what can collectively be referred to as problems of optimization. Very often it can be used in decision-making if the various factors involved are subject to quantitative measurement. Therefore, it is of great value in the solution of the type of economic problems that arise in government and industry. It has been used successfully to optimize production schedules, product mixture problems, transportation problems, and many other similar problems with which management and government are continually confronted.
