Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus has been the subject of many classical pieces of research in the past, and these have resulted in the tremendous advances upon which rests the modern treatment of that disease. The advent of the use of insulin brought with it the well-founded hope for a normal life and life expectancy in the diabetic patient. As time progressed, it was learned that diabetes was still the "disease of complications", and further research was begun on these phases of the problem. Some of the most recently recognized adverse reactions of this interesting disease have been found in the kidney. The work done thus far by most able investigators in this field, has produced many well-grounded facts and theories regarding the renal disturbances in diabetes. These studies, excellent as they are, serve only to whet the desire for more investigation in one who is interested in this particular disease.
