Abstract
At the time when John Keats felt the first stirrings of the poetic genius in his soul a fresh wave of thought was startling men to new ways of contemplating life. The spirit of revolution and all the attendant deification of liberty, equality and brotherhood and injected into poetry a new intensity and a passionate daring which had culminated in that wonderful outburst of poetic productivity known as the "romantic era." Keats was part and parcel of that movement.
