Abstract
Both the Church at large and the charismatic renewal are still gradually discovering the wide-ranging implications of the Vatican II Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation for interpreting scripture. George Martin's Reading Scripture as the Word oj God is a masterful introduction to the Vatican II approach, written for the layperson.! ·From my own use of this book in university undergraduate courses and in Bible teachings to laypeople, I find it helpful for showing Christians-ranging from traditional Catholics to those with sola scriptura and fundamentalist backgrounds - the reasonableness of the Vatican II perspective on scripture.
