Abstract
Development is a common word in the worlds of the rich and of the poor. The dominant paradigm views development as economic growth, which neglects the personal, cultural, social and religious dimensions of human life. The consequence of this unidimensional approach to development limits human freedom. Father Ogbonnaya’s talk proposes integral development through the integral scale of values as an alternative paradigm, to humanize globalization. Using the principles of Catholic social teaching and Lonergan’s philosophical anthropological construct, it seeks to address the challenges to integral development.
