Abstract
This document is a case study of the State of Wisconsin's interaction with the federal government's efforts to search for a crystalline rock formation that is capable of isolating highly radioactive spent fuel from commercial nuclear power reactors. Despite efforts to cooperate with the Department of Energy, interactions became contentious until the search was cancelled.
