Thermal radiation is an important mode of heat transfer. Accurate modeling of radiative transfer requires accurate data and models for spectral properties as well as good radiation solvers. This repository holds full spectrum k-distribution lookup tables for gas-soot mixtures in combustion-relevant environment.

Lookup table v1 (only gases, no soot)

  • This is the first iteration of lookup table. It contains only three major combustion gases at pressures from 0.1 bar to 80 bar. This table was reported in the following paper: C. Wang, W. Ge, M.F. Modest, and B. He, "A full-spectrum k-distribution look-up table for radiative transfer in nonhomogeneous gaseous media," J. Quant. Spectrosc. Radiat. Transf., vol. 168, pp. 46-56, 2016. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jqsrt.2015.08.017
Lookup table v2 (gas and soot)
  • On the second iteration of lookup table soot was added to the mix. The structure of the table was also optimized leading to redduction in storage and improvement in efficiency. This table was reported in the follow-up paper: C. Wang, M. F. Modest, and B. He, "Full-spectrum k-distribution look-up table for nonhomogeneous gas-soot mixtures." Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, vol. 176, pp. 129-136, 2016. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jqsrt.2016.02.007
Lookup table v3 (efficient)
  • On the third iteration of lookup table, the construction of the lookup table was changed leading to reduction in number interpolation steps and better management of storage. This table was reported in the following paper: C. Wang, B. He, M. F. Modest, and T. Ren, "Efficient full-spectrum correlated k-distribution look-up table." Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, vol. 219, pp. 108-116. 2018. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jqsrt.2018.04.002

This table is currently only available for atmospheric pressure.
Many of the resources hosted here were developed by Michael Modest and his coworkers over several years with support from various funding agencies. This repository is now maintained and continuously updated by Dr. Somesh Roy.
