Abstract
In the Milwaukee Public Schools the course or study to be followed in the Sixth Grade History from the Tentative Outline, 1929-1930, is as follows:
- "The Middle Ages and what we have learned from them.
- Crusades and Commerce.
- The discovery of the Western World.
- Rival powers in Europe and America."
The book especially recommended is the Course with Type Studies, Grade VI. While the book is very helpful and full of suggestions, the best results cannot be obtained unless the teacher works out some system by which an orderly procedure can be accomplished. Unless the teacher has an adequate background, it is necessary for her to study the subject carefully, so that the outstanding characteristics of each period will be brought out. The first semester's work will not be of the best, but will give the teacher some idea of the enormity of the assignment and of the meager suggest-ions which are offered in the course of study.
