Abstract
The Purpose of the Elementary School. - The purpose of of the elementary school is to administer to the needs of childhood. These needs are intellectual, physical, moral, and social. The intellectual needs are satisfied by a thorough mastery of the tools of learning. A stimulation of the normal health and growth of the body meets the child’s physical needs. It’s moral needs may be met by setting up recognized standards of conduct and insisting upon obedience of rightful authority. Social needs require the organization of and participation in group activities.
