Abstract
In the following paper the author has endeavored to point out and develop the various rivalries and complications that led to the American Civil War from their very inception in the beginnings of our Government. These causes have been considered from a Southern viewpoint, the purpose of the paper being to present fairly this side of the problem and to justify the South in her actions toward it.
