Abstract
There are many methods, for the determination of this sugar, in use now, some used widely others not so widely. Methods vary as to accuracy and there has been many comparisons made between various methods. There is a recognized clinical need of a method for a quantitative sugar determination which will be quick, accurate, and adapted for use with small blood samples. As a result of this last, namely adaptation for use with small blood samples, several micro chemical methods have been published. One of these is the Epstein method. It is simple and supposed to make the estimation of blood sugar more suitable for general clinical and laboratory work and also does away with the venous puncture. Methods used widely which require more blood are the Folin Wu and Lewis Benedict methods.
