Abstract
Recently there has been brought to the attention of writers a number of plants that produce water-storing organs commonly known as tubers. Luerssen, (Campbell, 1905) refers to special reproductive bodies or tubers in Marsilia hirsuta. These tubers are thought to survive long periods of drought, and to germinate under favorable conditions. Nephrolepis cordifolia (L.) Presl., one of the Boston ferns, which produces tubers in large numbers has interested a number of investigators.
