Abstract
This Essay will evaluate the skills necessary for today's professional engineer. Case studies will be presented to highlight successes and failures, and how non-engineering issues are sometimes more instrumental in the final outcome. Trite phrases nonwithstanding, today's true professional engineer must develop and foster a balanced, well-rounded set of skills in order to successfully address and solve complex engineering problems.
