Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to develop a model of a neuromuscular control system. Each element of the system (extrafusal muscle, intrafusal muscle, Golgi tendon organ, innervation and etcetera) is examined in turn. A brief review of t he anatomy and physiology of the element is presented first to give insight into the structure and function of the element. The development of the model of the element is then presented beginning with the - earliest model the author could find and noting the subsequent corrections and improvements made to date. All assumptions made J in the final modeling of an element are included in the section on the modeling of that specific element. The models of the individual elements are then integrated into a whole system analog model and block diagram representing a neuromuscular control loop (subject to the previously developed assumptions).
