Abstract

Although the focus in the last few years has turned from the problem of unwed mothers to abortion and contraception there has been an increasing public awareness of the dimensions of out of wedlock pregnancy, particularly as the many contributing factors of such a pregnancy are important to understanding the psychological implications of abortion. Also, for those girls who do not seek an abortion for whatever reason, there is still a need for understanding how they and their society can best meet such a crisis.
