Abstract
One of the more vexing of contemporary theological problems is that of the nature of the relationship of philosophy and theology , Are they autonomous, or related? If they are related, how is that relationship to be understood? Does philosophical reflection provide norms for the understanding of revelation, or vice-versa? And if either one of them is to be normative for the understanding of the other, is it possible to talk about the freedom of both? These are but a few of the questions that have plagued theology virtually from the beginning. Just what does Athens have to do with Jerusalem?
