Abstract
It has been said that " ... involvement between the individual and society is an ever deepening process of interaction." Kwant means that the relation between the individual and society is one in which they cause each other to realize themselves more fully. Society here does not refer to an abstraction. It is not a thing, an object incapable of entering into a relationship. Society is rather many persons who are interacting with each other in an experience of living-together. The relation. then, is a continuous, progressive being-together in which each grows according to a contribution. In other words, in order to maintain and develop the relation each person must be available and open to the other. Daily we see such relations between parent and child. student and teacher, pastor and parishioner, patient and nurse. In each instance both persons are being-together in such a way that one is not what he is without the other.
