Abstract
This essay will try to determine whether or not flexible modular scheduling properly prepares a high school student to cope with the freedom and personal responsibility of higher education, especially in the areas of the formation of good study habits, motivation, and self-esteem. Too often the high school program has been looked on as an entity unto itself without any regard to the future needs of the student. Flexible modular scheduling proposes to better prepare students for life by giving them the opportunity to make responsible decisions regarding their own education thereby quickening the development of maturity. Whether or not it achieves its purpose is the subject of this paper.
