Abstract
If to be a Christian means to be a son of the Father, who is God the Father? What is He really like? How do Christians today get to know Him? How does our relationship with Him become the most basic operative relationship in our personality? These questions stimulated this research. The beginning" of an answer to the questions was looked for in Scripture in St. John's gospel. In John's gospel, the word "Father", referring" to God the Father, is used 118 times -- that is more than any other significant word in the Johannine vocabulary. The Father is obviously a dominant theme in St. John. Since the whole gospel could not be studied, chapters three and six were chosen because they refer tote sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist; and sacraments necessarily involve today.
