Abstract

As a teacher of mathematics in a high school, the author has listened to his colleagues, in discussion, state the various "outcomes" which they anticipated for their pupils as a result of their teaching of mathematics. Anticipated "outcomes" are predicated upon objectives. In a controlled or formalized situation such as seems true in a course in mathematics, the objectives of good educational practice might be pre-established.
