Abstract
Learning is basic to human life. Its importance in daily life becomes apparent when we consider what a man would be like if he were deprived of all he had learned. Learning begins at birth and continues throughout life. The teacher is concerned primarily with the direction and the guidance of learning; therefore, he needs to understand the basic principles of learning, so that he can create learning situations that will initiate and guide the activities of the learner at his particular level. Through the function of teaching, the nurse can help patients understand health principles and practices and assist them to assume the responsibility for applying what they have learned to themselves and their families.
