Abstract

The immediate purpose of this study was to compare the spelling achievement of two eighth grade classes using two different word lists for their weekly spelling lessons. The control class followed the spelling workbook, The Catholic School Speller published by Laidlaw Brothers, used by the Diocese of St. Cloud and the experimental class used word lists prepared by the classroom teacher. These teacher-prepared lists can be found in the appendix of this paper.
