Abstract

An ideal filter passes signals of some frequencies and not others. There are two types of digital filters which attempt to approximate this ideal, an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and finite impulse response (FIR) filter. This paper explores the design of FIR filters by using a new window function derived from the application of modern control theory.
