Abstract

Democracy by its very nature is dependent upon and finds essence and fulfillment in the distinction it accords the individual . Yet, it seems that the character of our society very often precludes that individuality which is so necessary for the preservation of human dignity . The schools exercise great care in learning situations to provide for the individual, recognizing individual differences . Yet, in the field of guidance and counseling, that very principle is often violated .
