Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of an added systematic program of instruction to the incidental method of teaching arithmetic in first grade . This study was specifically concerned with the amount of arithmetic success achieved by pupils of different levels of ability when a systematic program of instruction was used along with the incidental method .
