Abstract
The purpose of the thesis was to investigate, in vitro, the manner of conversion of pyrimidine ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleic acid with the possibility that an alternate pathway differing from direct reduction of the ribonucleotide(side) to the deoxyribonucleotide(side), that is without cleavage of the N-glycosidic linkage, exists . in rat tissue. In studying this problem a procedure had to be worked out for the isolation of the pyrimidine-bound sugar with almost quantitative recovery of the sugar from micromole quantities of nucleotide.
